[fanart] Tenten

Okay, I'm a few days late for this week's weekly art thing. What I drew on Sunday was so crappy I couldn't bear to post it. This one, however, turned out so well I think I'll complete it - when I get the monitor colour corrected, that is :P

This is Tenten, but about 10 years older and infinitely more kickass than she currently is. Please to be ignoring nonsensical things like the inadvisability of strapping a weapon to bare skin or wearing a necklace that will hit you in the face while doing a backflip. If physics is mutable in Naruto, so is common sense.

The weapons are called Wind-Fire Wheels, which I found on some online martial arts store. I may change it to the more traditional design I found; while this design is cool-looking (the actual one, that is, not my inaccurate scribble :P) it seems a bit complex to traditionally forge. Flimsy too, if you think about how easy the blades would be to snap off. They're apparently tai chi weapons, though I have doubts they were ever used in actual battle.

[fanart] Shannon

Jeez, I'm just barely skating in under the deadline. This week's is Shannon Casull from the novel-turned-anime, Scrapped Princess. Yet another anime I never watched till the end. Frankly, once the dystopian future, save the world from aliens part of the storyline started in, I lost interest. Must every anime have the giant mecha?

What I liked most about Shannon is his hairdo, specifically the tail :D I'd forgotten what a pain hair is to paint and I think I overdid the shininess :P I also took off his armour/outfit-thing. There's cool-looking outfit, then there's fiddly as all hell to draw. What was the character designer on? I'm surprised the animators didn't object.

Of the rest of the characters, Pacifica was stereotypically annoying, Raquel was the stereotypical older sister and the rest didn't really register. I was tempted to do a picture of Raquel's kick-ass magic effect but I don't think a still would look so good; what kicked most ass about it was the animation, really.
